Frequently Asked Questions

We know that inviting someone into your home is an important decision. Below, we’ve gathered answers to the questions we hear most often to help all parties feel fully informed every step of the way.

General FAQs:

What services does The 704 Nanny Agency provide?

We offer five placement services: Long-term, Short-term, Summer, Nanny Shares, and Live-Ins. For more information on each, please navigate to our Services page. Please reach out via our general email inbox at the704nanny@gmail.com if you feel like your needs don’t fall within one of these services.

What area does the agency serve?

We serve the Charlotte metropolitan area, including surrounding cities and towns. Please reach out via our general email inbox at the704nanny@gmail.com if you require placement outside of this area.

How does the match process work?

Our process begins with an in-home visit where we meet to understand your family’s unique needs. After the in-home interview, your nanny selection process will begin. The 704 Nanny Agency will conduct interviews and screenings to narrow down candidates that best fit with your family’s needs, expectations, and home dynamic.

Following a thorough screening and interview process including a background check, sex offender screening, MVR report, and CPR certification, The 704 Nanny Agency will suggest two to three candidates that you will be encouraged to personally interview before a final selection is made. We’ll be with you every step of the way; our top priority is finding the best match for your family.

What are your fees?

Fees vary depending on service. Our placement fee covers recruiting, screening, matching, and support throughout the hiring process. We’ll explain all fees clearly during your consultation. For more information please view our Services page.

How do you choose which families and nannies to work with?
We believe strong placements come from shared values, clear communication, and mutual respect. We carefully evaluate both families and candidates to ensure a positive long-term match.

What makes your agency different?
We offer a personalized, hands-on approach. Every family is unique, and we take the time to understand your home, parenting style, and childcare priorities before making candidate recommendations.

Do you stay involved after we hire a nanny?

Yes, we remain available for support, guidance, and check-ins after placement.

Family FAQs:

How do I get started?

Simply submit your completed Family Questionnaire form, give us a call (704-628-1416), or send us an email at the704nanny@gmail.com. We’ll schedule an initial in-home visit to discuss your needs, expectations, and timeline, and then officially begin your nanny selection process.

Why use a nanny agency in Charlotte instead of searching on my own?

Finding a nanny on your own can be time-consuming and overwhelming. We handle recruiting, vetting, and matching so families feel confident and supported throughout the hiring process, and secure in their selection.

How long does it take to place a nanny?

Most placements take 4-8 weeks depending on your schedule, location, and specific needs. We focus on quality matches rather than rushing the process. We suggest starting your search 6-8 weeks before the nanny is needed to ensure placement success.

Because a live-in nanny becomes a member of your household, we prioritize lifestyle chemistry over speed. To solidify a successful live-in match, we suggest starting your search between 8-10 weeks before the nanny is needed to ensure the transition is seamless for both your children and your home's privacy.

What if my placement isn’t a good fit?

We want your family to feel confident and supported. Our #1 goal is ensuring your nanny is a good fit for your family. Because of this, we offer a placement safety net. If you’re not satisfied within the first 90 days, we’ll offer up to two additional placements.

Can you help if we need a nanny quickly?

We do our best to accommodate urgent timelines and will let you know right away what options are available.

Do we pay the nanny directly?

Yes, families hire the nanny as a household employee and pay them directly. We can guide you through payroll services and tax requirements.

Do you help with nanny contracts or work agreements?

Yes, we provide guidance and work agreement templates to help families and nannies create clear, professional agreements.

Are we required to do an additional interview after we’re presented with candidates?

No, but by choosing to not interview the candidate, you waive the placement safety net.

How much should we expect to pay a nanny in the Carolinas?

Rates vary based on experience, number of children, and responsibilities, but most professional nannies in our area earn an hourly wage consistent with industry standards.

Can we request a nanny with specific experience (newborns, multiples, special needs)?

Yes! We specialize in understanding family preferences and will only present candidates who meet your specific requirements.

Screening & Safety FAQs:

Yes, all nannies placed through our agency must hold current Infant and Child CPR/First Aid certifications. If yours has expired, we can provide resources to help you get recertified before your start date.

What does your screening process involve?

Our vetting is thorough to ensure the safety of our families. It includes an initial interview, professional reference checks, and a comprehensive background and driving record check.

Will I be an employee of the agency or the family?

You will be an employee of the family. The 704 Nanny Agency acts as the matchmaker and consultant, but your contract and paycheck will come directly from the household.

What is the typical pay rate in Charlotte?

Rates depend on your experience and the job's complexity, but most professional nannies in the Charlotte area earn an hourly wage consistent with industry standards.

What happens if I'm not happy with a family?

We advocate for our nannies to feel confident and supported. We remain available for support, guidance, and check-ins after placement. If separation of parties is in the best interest for the nanny and family, proper steps will be carried out.
